Over the past month, UCLA has made headlines for its conference realignment decision. But now, it’s in the news for another reason — it’s reached a settlement with former sponsor Under Armour.
The two sides reached an agreement at the end of May, ESPN reported. One of the terms of the settlement will require Under Armour to shell out $67.5 million.
The lawsuit was first filed in summer of 2020, when Under Armour ended its contract with the Bruins athletic department early.
The school accused Under Armour of illegally ending the relationship — which was a $15 year, $280 million agreement — and sued the school.
But Under Armour filed a lawsuit in response a year later, alleging that the school’s covering of Under Armour logos went against the contract.
Now, the Bruins have a new sponsor: Nike and its affiliate Jordan brand.
