Pat McAfee to Host MegaCast for CFP National Championship

  • McAfee and his team will broadcast live from a field suite at SoFi Stadium.
  • They will make an episode of the Pat McAfee Show live from Los Angeles on Monday.

Pat McAfee’s tremendous college football coverage season will finish spectacularly at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

On Wednesday, McAfee announced on his show that he and his crew would host another MegaCast on ESPN2 for Monday night’s showdown between TCU and Georgia.

“We are very lucky to be a part of this f-cking thing,” McAfee said on Wednesday’s Pat McAfee Show. “I’m thankful, and I’m excited to get out there.”

The retired NFL punter turned media personality outlined some of the details of his crew’s schedule for Monday.

PMS will run a live show from Los Angeles on Monday before setting up shop in a field suite at SoFi Stadium for the MegaCast — a situation that could afford the alternative telecast more flexibility and ease up logistics for filming it, as McAfee alluded to on the show.

For the epic CFP semifinal at the Peach Bowl between Ohio State and Georgia, McAfee’s MegaCast was set up on the field — which the host described as “a blast,” and gave he and his crew a crash course in the logistics for a telecast of that nature.

McAfee’s MegaCasts are part of a collaboration — announced just before the start of the season — with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.

In October, the first of these alternate telecasts drew 251,000 viewers for 5% of total audience — roughly the same percentage-wise as the NFL’s ManningCast.

McAfee has attained an even higher profile in the college football world this season due to his newly full-time presence on ESPN’s College Gameday.
