The Glazer family have been in talks with investment bankers that could lead to a full sale of Manchester United, Sky News reported on Tuesday.

The Glazers’ tenure has been an unpopular one overall fans of the Premier League stalwart — and the team parted ways with star Cristiano Ronaldo shortly before news broke about a potential sale. Last week, Ronaldo said in an interview that the Glazers “do not care about Manchester United.”

Manchester United, one of the world’s most popular sports franchises, is currently valued at $4.6 billion.

Malcolm Glazer, who already owned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, purchased Manchester United in 2005 for about $1.5 billion. Glazer died in 2014 at age 85. His sons, Joel and Avram Glazer, have overseen the day-to-day operations of the club even before their father passed.

A message left with a Manchester United spokesperson was not immediately returned.

Manchester United would become the second Premier League franchise by their U.S. owners. Fenway Sports Group is reportedly inviting offers for Liverpool FC.
