Dustin Johnson Claims $18M LIV Golf Individual Championship

  • The title pushes Johnson's on-course LIV earnings to almost $31 million.
  • He has five top-10 finishes with one win this season.
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

Since defecting for $125 million in June, Dustin Johnson has proven to be one of LIV Golf’s strongest assets — and now has the accolades and prize money to back it up.

With a 15th-place finish at LIV’s Bangkok Invitational this past weekend, Johnson has secured enough points to clinch the inaugural LIV Golf Individual Championship ahead of the final regular-season event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The title comes with an $18 million cash prize, pushing Johnson’s on-course earnings for the season — between individual and team winnings — to almost $31 million. The 38-year-old has five top-10 finishes, including a dramatic win at LIV’s Boston tournament.

“It’s an honor to be LIV’s first individual season champion,” Johnson said in a statement. “Our team is in a really good position with two events to go and I’m looking forward to further contributing to LIV Golf’s exciting story and continued growth.”

“The first chapter of LIV Golf’s history could not be written without Dustin Johnson’s name,” said LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman.

The second- and third-place spots — which carry $8 million and $4 million payouts, respectively — are very much up for grabs ahead of the Jeddah Invitational.

After that tournament, LIV will finish out its inaugural season with a knockout-style Team Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami, where teams will compete for a $16 million first prize out of a historic $50 million purse.

Johnson’s 4 Aces currently lead the team standings with 140 points.
