The name, image, and likeness collective at Rutgers, the Knights of The Raritan, has facilitated a deal with eight Rutgers women’s sports athletes to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX — and the 50th anniversary of women being admitted to the university.
The deal is a sponsorship with a local business called the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO), and includes three lacrosse players, two softball players, one volleyball, one field hockey, and one basketball player.
Athletes will promote the city of New Brunswick, and will be featured in a video that Knights of The Raritan president Jon Newman and DEVCO’s president Chris Paladino collaborated on.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We just think this group of young women that we have assembled represent the best of Rutgers, both academically and athletically, and are great ambassadors,” Paladino told NJ.com.
“We do this not just to generate business, but drive home the point that what’s good for New Brunswick is good for Rutgers and vice versa, how they’re inextricably connected, particularly from a level of commerce.”
