Which Tennis Players Have Made the Most US Open Appearances?

Americans Venus Williams and Jimmy Connors have more US Open singles appearances than any other tennis players in the Open Era.

On August 25, 2025, seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams played in her 25th US Open. That’s a record that no woman or man currently playing comes close to matching.

The 45-year-old former phenom first appeared in the US Open in 1997 as an unseeded 17-year-old. She went all the way to the finals before falling to Martina Hingis. Williams got her revenge on Hingis three years later in the 2000 US Open semifinals and went on to beat fellow American Lindsay Davenport for her second major singles championship. She successfully defended her title in 2001.

On the men’s side, Jimmy Connors has the most appearances during the Open Era, playing in 22 US Opens across three decades of play. He also won five of those tournaments, tying him with Pete Sampras and Roger Federer for the Open Era record.

Not every player on our list is a big name. American Amy Frazier never missed a US Open from 1987 to 2006, but never made it further than the quarterfinals. And German Philipp Kohlschreiber repeatedly made it to the fourth round but never cracked the final eight.
