The Faces Behind FOS: Chase McCaskill

Chase McCaskill Front Office Sports

We decided to showcase the many faces behind FOS, what they do outside of the site and what their career aspirations are! Today you get to meet one of our contributors, Chase McCaskill!

What is your current role/year in school outside of FOS?

I graduated last May with a degree in Finance and a minor in Sports Management. I currently work as a risk consultant at Protiviti. My past internship experience is in sports, most recently, I worked as a Supporter Engagement Intern at Burnley Football Club in Burnley, England. Working at Burnley had to be one of the best experiences of my life. However, working outside of sports has been excellent because I’ve been able to sharpen skills that I may not have had the chance to sharpen otherwise.

What is your current role for FOS and how long have you been doing this?

I am an Interview Contributor for Front Office Sports. I began working for FOS in July of this summer and I strive to interview at least two sports business professionals each month.

What drew you to FOS in the beginning and why do you think it is important for students and young professionals to know that this resource is available?

Front Office Sports is an incredible resource for students and young, sports business professionals. I think the most important thing for young people is to constantly be learning. We need to be a sponge, soaking up as much information and insight as we can. However, sometimes not all advice is good advice. FOS is a fantastic resource that provides young professionals an opportunity to soak up trustworthy information from proven individuals. I am always able to apply their content to my career in order to help grow my skill set. Ever since I’ve been contributing for Front Office Sports, I’ve had the unique opportunity to speak with these sports business professionals one-on-one and really learn from what they have to say. It’s been a good way for me to stay connected to the industry and hear valuable advice along the way.

Favorite professional sports team? Favorite venue you have been to?

Hands down my favorite professional sports team would have to be Real Madrid. I am a massive soccer (football) fan and a dedicated Madridista. On the flip side, I am a big Ranger fan, Dallas Mavs fan, and a Cheesehead (Go Pack Go). I’ve got three favorite venues I have visited 1.) Kyle Field-Texas A&M 2.) Santiago Bernebeu-Real Madrid 3.) Old Trafford-Manchester United.

Career goals and aspirations?

As I mentioned before, I have always had an affinity for the game of soccer. I grew up playing the game and have now spent time working in the field with my past internships/externships. Although I am not currently working in the sports industry, I’d like to see my path trend back towards the game of soccer sometime in the future. Ideally, one day I’d like to spend some time in upper-management of a soccer club (Operations or Marketing) and move into the international side of the game as my career progresses. My lifelong dream is to be President of US Soccer and on the FIFA Executive Committee.

Words of Wisdom?

Reach out to people for advice. So many people in the sports industry are open to giving advice, all you have to do is ask. If you are curious about an industry, or an area of an industry, then pick up the phone and call someone who works in that field! I challenge anyone reading this short article to schedule one phone call this week, or next, in a career field of interest and tweet me with something you learned from speaking with that person. I would love to hear some cool stuff and can promise you won’t regret reaching out to them!

By this time next year I see myself…

Working hard. I am not sure exactly where I will be or what I will be doing, but I can guarantee that I’ll be giving 110%. Hard work and dedication is crucial in each and every industry.
