The 2023 season will be the last with four teams in the College Football Playoff as the postseason tournament prepares to expand to 12 teams in 2024.

This season will also be the last of the Pac-12 as we know it, as USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon will leave for the Big 12 in 2024. Stanford and Cal appear headed for the ACC as realignment could spell the end of the Pacific Coast conference.

Alabama has the most championships (three) since the inception of the College Football Playoff in 2014. In 2021, Cincinnati became the first Group of Five school to make the CFP as Power Five programs otherwise dominate the tournament. SEC teams lead the pact with 17 combined playoff wins and six championships across Alabama, Georgia, and LSU.

According to the Knight Commission, conference payouts for the College Football Playoff are projected to reach $2 billion annually by 2027. Here are the ten winningest FBS programs in the CFP era (since 2014).
