Stanley Cup Is Kroenke Sports’ 3rd Pro Title of 2022

  • The NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, NLL’s Colorado Mammoth, and NHL’s Colorado Avalanche have all won championships this year.
  • Kroenke is worth $10.7 billion and is the 183rd richest person in the world.
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Stan Kroenke is having one of the most impressive years in sports ownership history.

With the Colorado Avalanche’s 2-1 victory over the Lightning in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, three teams owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment have won championships in 2022: The NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth, and the NHL’s Avalanche.

It’s the first time that an owner has won a Super Bowl and a championship in one of the other major American sports in the same calendar year.

Kroenke’s second Stanley Cup as owner of the Avs — the first coming in his first full year of ownership in 2001 — gives him seven championships as a majority owner across all of his teams.

The Mammoth’s title was their second with KSE, the Colorado Rapids won the MLS Cup in 2010, and Arsenal W.F.C. won the Women’s Super League in 2019.

The Rams also won the Super Bowl when Kroenke was a minority owner in 1999.

KSE is still waiting on its first championships with the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and the Premier League’s Arsenal F.C.

Kroenke’s ownership group owns most of the venues where these teams play, as well as other real estate, regional sports network Altitude Sports, and magazine publisher Outdoor Sportsman Group.

Kroenke married Walmart heiress Ann Walton Kroenke in 1974 and founded KSE in 1999. He is worth $10.7 billion and is the 183rd richest person in the world, per Forbes.
