MLB Pulls ‘ANAELS,’ ‘ASHOS’ Hats After ‘TETAS’ Debacle

The other 27 hats remained available on official team sites as of Wednesday morning, including BOBON Red Sox and ARIANA Diamondbacks caps.

The Los Angeles “ANAELS” hat is officially a collector’s item.

Prices for the New Era “Overlap” edition of the team hats shot as high as $950 on eBay on Wednesday after they were removed from MLB’s official site.

MLB removed the Los Angeles and Houston (“ASHOS”) versions of the hats Tuesday after over a day of online ridicule. That follows the league removing the Rangers “Overlap” cap because it read “TETAS,” with the Rangers’ T logo neatly blocking out the X in Texas. “Tetas” is a slang word in Spanish for a woman’s breasts.

A league source told FOS after the Rangers hats were pulled that the “TETAS” hats were “unintentional” and missed in the standard product review.

The hats show the teams’ standard logo over the city name.

MLB and New Era did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the “ANAELS” and “ASHOS” hats. Last year’s New Era “Team Shadow” collection included a cap for the Oakland “ASS.”

The other 27 hats remained available on official team sites as of Wednesday morning, including “BOBON” Red Sox and “ARIANA” Diamondbacks caps. The hats cost $44.99.
