LIV Golf is moving forward with this week’s $30 million event at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, despite the impending cancellation of its 2026 season finale, the $40 million team championship, at the end of this month.

Amid the league’s uncertain future, its LIV Golf New York event is set to begin Thursday, and all indications so far are that LIV Golf Indianapolis will take place as scheduled (Aug. 20–23) at The Club at Chatham Hills. The Indiana event is now likely to be LIV’s final tournament of the year, with the league expected to cancel LIV Golf Michigan, sources have told Front Office Sports and multiple other outlets.

There has been no formal announcement about LIV Michigan, which remains scheduled for Aug. 27–30 in suburban Detroit at The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort. However, there has been no infrastructure buildout at the course, and LIV has not shot down the reports of cancellation. It’s possible some elements of the team championship could be incorporated into the Indianapolis event.

While LIV would be saving $40 million in prize money it had planned to pay out at its team championship should that be officially canceled, the league is still set to pay out more than $60 million at its New York and Indianapolis events. Both of those tournaments offer LIV’s standard $30 million purses—$20 million for individuals and $10 million for the league’s 13 tour-man teams. LIV this season has also been paying out $2.3 million in bonus money to the players on the top three finishing teams at each tournament.

LIV is still seeking up to $350 million from new investors, as the Saudi PIF is soon to stop funding the league at the end of the season. Last week, the New York Post reported that LIV had received “multiple written commitments from blue-chip investment firms that would serve as anchor investors to support the league” going forward.

Down to the Wire

One pre-tournament press conference ahead of LIV Golf New York is scheduled for Tuesday morning with Australian star Cam Smith and his three Ripper GC teammates. But otherwise, there are no formal media availabilities lined up for LIV’s other biggest stars, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, or the league’s CEO, Scott O’Neil. Plenty of players will likely be doing various individual interviews throughout the week, though.

DeChambeau has been among the most optimistic LIV players when asked about the league’s future, with the star offering up his own time and ideas to help LIV secure new investors.

Rahm, meanwhile, has been more subdued in his comments about LIV’s future. “We know a lot of what’s going on,” Rahm said ahead of the LIV Golf U.K. event last month. “Not that I can share with you guys right now. … I’m always optimistic. I play a game for a living. I can’t really be too upset about how things are going in life. … I’m not going to share anything that I can’t share with you guys right now.”

It’s unclear whether U.S. President Donald Trump will attend LIV Golf New York, but he attended another LIV event at one of his courses in Virginia in May, as well as a PGA Tour event at Trump Doral in late April.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
