The WNBA has a long way to go to match the NBA’s media dominance and popularity. But new stars and intriguing matchups are driving more interest in it than ever before.

Point guards control the flow of the game and the best can determine the outcome. The highest-paid WNBA point guards earn over $200K running the offense.

Skylar Diggins-Smith is the highest-paid WNBA point guard. The former number 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft earns $208.2K for the Storm.

Diggins-Smith signed with Seattle in February on a 2-year, $422.69K contract. She’s earned $1.36 million over her career in the WNBA.

Ranking below Ionescu’s salary is Erica Wheeler, who earns $202.15K. The point guard of the Fever has played in Indiana for seven years.

Wheeler returned to Fever, where she began her career after moving to Los Angeles and Atlanta.

Coming in third is the Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu. She makes $202K annually to play in New York.

Ionescu, also a former number 1 overall pick, signed an extension with the Liberty in 2023. Her new contract gives over $133K more per year than she was making on her rookie deal.

Fourth is Natasha Cloud of the Mercury. She brings home $200K playing for the Western Conference squad.

Cloud is in her first year playing in Phoenix after spending her entire career with the Mystics.

Fifth on the list is Chelsea Gray at $196.26K. She’s played with the Aces since 2021. Gray has earned $903K over her 8-year career and won three WNBA titles.

The gap in wages among the highest-paid point guards is staggering. Only the top four earn at least $200K.

The next five highest-paid WNBA point guards on the list are the last to earn at least $100K.

Skylar Diggins-Smith makes $131.7K more than Sydney Colson at 16th.
