The Highest-Paid WNBA Point Guards

  • Jackie Young takes the top spot earning $252,450.
  • Caitlin Clark doesn’t crack the top 15.
Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

The WNBA has a long way to go to match the NBA’s media dominance and popularity. New stars and intriguing matchups are driving more interest in it than ever before.

Point guards control the flow of the game and the best can determine the outcome. The highest-paid WNBA point guards earn some of the highest wages in the league to run the offense.

Jackie Young of the Aces is the highest-paid point guard earning $252,450 in average annual value. She signed an extension in 2022 worth $504,900 and again last year on a one-year, $169,950 to remain in Las Vegas. Young was their first overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft.

Kelsey Mitchell of the Fever is second at $249,244 in salary. Mitchell has earned $853,198 in her career, having played all seven years in Indiana.

Skylar Diggins-Smith is third, earning $211,343 with the Storm. Diggins-Smith signed an extension last February worth $422,690 for two years. She’s earned $1.56 million over her career in the WNBA.

Fourth is the Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu. She makes $205,030 annually playing with the reigning champions in New York.

Ionescu signed an extension with the Liberty in 2023. Her extension nets her $133,831 more per year than she made on her rookie deal.

Rounding out the top five is the newest addition to the Sparks, Kelsey Plum. Plum brings home $202,000 annually.

Plum was traded from the Aces in February as part of a three-team trade that kickstarted a very active WNBA offseason.

The gap in wages among the highest-paid point guards is staggering. Only the top six earn at least $200,000.

The next four highest-paid WNBA point guards on the list are the last to earn at least $100,000.

Despite her transformative presence, Caitlin Clark only ranks 17th and earns $164,730 less than her teammate Kelsey Mitchell.
