Good Good Golf co-founder Garrett Clark shared a lengthy video to his personal social media accounts late Wednesday addressing the controversy that has swirled around the company since it posted (and quickly deleted) an ad for its new co-branded driver with Callaway last Friday.

The promotion depicted Clark running and shoving fellow Good Good talent Alexis Miestowski to the ground as she reached for the club out of his bag. Standing above Miestowski as she lay on her back, Clark threateningly says, “Do not touch my new driver.” Online backlash ensued immediately, with many describing the ad as confusing, scary, and endorsing violence against women. The condemnation reached the highest levels of golf, with even PGA Tour CEOBrian Rolapp criticizing the ad and the company’s slow-footed response.

“I want to personally apologize for playing a role in the skit in this ad at the magnitude that I did,” Clark said in the video post Wednesday night. “And on Good Good’s behalf, on Good Good marketing’s behalf, I want to apologize as well because how this ad was received is not at all what we stand for. Also, I do not support [domestic violence], abuse, or any of that of any kind.”

In recent days, the fallout has rapidly escalated. On Tuesday, Golf Channel postponed the premiere of a new show with the YouTube-native brand—set to be called Big Break x Good Good—by a week after a sponsor dropped out, and Callaway announced it was investigating how the ad was approved by its team. On Wednesday, several major retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, PGA Tour Superstore, and Target pulled Good Good merchandise from their in-store and online shelves.

Calls for the Tour to drop Good Good as the title sponsor of its Fall Series event taking place Nov. 12–15 in Austin, Texas, have also been mounting. Asked about this at the Tour Championship earlier this week, Rolapp indicated that a change wasn’t off the table, noting the organization will “continue to monitor the situation and see how it develops.”

After apologizing, Clark walked through how the ad was made, splicing in behind-the-scenes footage that showed the tackle of Miestowski was staged and that he didn’t strike her. He also reiterated what Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick told the Wall Street Journal on Monday: The ad was supposed to be a spoof of “Obsession,” a horror movie released earlier this summer, but missed the mark.

“Looking back, super dumb ad concept, terrible ad in general, not the greatest idea in general,” he reflected. “Minutes after it got posted, I was cringing. I thought it was the worst ad known to man.”

He then called attention to the online criticism and abuse that Miestowski and her fellow “Good Good Girls” have been targeted with amid the backlash. (Good Good launched Good Good Girls, a women-focused YouTube channel featuring four ex-college golfers, in late 2025. Miestowski, a former varsity golfer at Indiana, has not commented publicly since the furor began.)

Clark showed screenshots of recent comments on Miestowski’s Instagram posts and direct messages she has received. “Hope someone beats you after your round,” read one; “Get the fuck off the planet now you little fucking loser bitch,” said another.

“There are hundreds of these comments and messages circulating about her,” Clark said.

Beyond Clark’s video and Kendrick’s comments to the WSJ, Good Good hasn’t put out any formal communications since a tweet last Saturday. “We posted a video to our channels that ultimately depicted actions that are not aligned with our values as a brand,” the statement said. “We have since taken that content down, and sincerely apologize. Good Good has always stood for making the game of golf more inclusive to all, and we will continue to ensure that is our mission moving forward.”

Clark ended his eight-minute message with a forward-looking plea.

“Good Good messed up by promoting a very poor-taste ad, but hopefully you guys can forgive Good Good as well as myself for being a part of it,” he said. “Hopefully we can move on and grow the women’s side of golf, because that is one of our huge, huge goals.”
