PopStroke, a mini golf entertainment company co-owned by Tiger Woods, is continuing to expand with a new venue being built adjacent to Palm Beach International Airport in Florida.
It is expected to open by the end of 2024 with two 18-hole mini golf courses, a restaurant and multiple bars, jumbotrons, music, a kids playground and ice cream parlor with 24 flavors, as well as a VIP lounge area, storage lockers for luggage, and a rooftop pool with a bar. The courses will have synthetic turf with fairways and bunkers.
PopStroke Palm Beach will span a two-story building in a 3.37 acre lot just outside the airport, with guests able to take a free shuttle to and from the airport. Airport travelers will have an “ideal location to gather and relax with their friends and family before and after their flights,” Palm Beach airport director Laura Beebe said in PopStroke’s announcement. More than 6 million passengers per year fly out of Palm Beach International Airport.
Woods owns a Jupiter, Fla, mansion near Palm Beach County, which has agreed to lease its airport site to PopStroke for 30 years, according to The Palm Beach Post. PopStroke reportedly will pay the city payments equal to 4% of annual gross revenues up to $10 million, plus 2% of annual gross revenues exceeding $10 million. It will pay to the county an initial annual rent of $448,158. The FAA still must approve PopStroke’s plans for the airport site.
The golf entertainment business is booming between the likes of PopStroke, Topgolf, Puttshack, and Drive Shack among other facility operators. TaylorMade, which is an investor in PopStroke, announced plans earlier this month to build a luxury golf resort in Texas across the PGA of America’s new headquarters.
PopStroke launched in partnership with Tiger Woods’ TGR Ventures in 2019. The company currently has seven open venues across Florida, Texas, and Arizona, with 22 locations set to open by 2025. Venues expected to open later this year include ones in Scottsdale, AZ; Delray Beach, FL; and Tuscaloosa, AL. Planned future locations include Las Vegas, Nashville, Myrtle Beach, Dallas, College Station, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Daytona Beach.
