Celtics Stars Tatum, Brown Eligible For $613M in Contract Extensions

The duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s 2022-23 season became very expensive for the Boston Celtics.

On Wednesday, Tatum and Brown earned All-NBA honors, making them eligible for the supermax contract extension.

Tatum, who averaged career-highs with 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, earned first-team honors and will be eligible to sign his five-year, $318 million extension in June 2024.

Brown, who averaged a career-high 25.3 points per game, earned second-team honors and is eligible to sign his five-year, $295 million supermax extension this summer.

Under the NBA rules, players become eligible for the supermax if they have completed at least seven years of service and are named to an All-NBA team the previous season or both years before.

Brown just completed his seventh season, while Tatum just completed his sixth.

The Celtics are not required to offer each of these contracts, but one or both will likely be extended the offer.

On Thursday, the Celtics hope to extend their season in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals when they go to Philadelphia to face the 76ers.
