PHOENIX — HB Sports & Entertainment co-founder Josh Harris toured the Washington Commanders’ headquarters in Northern Virginia within the last week, a source with knowledge of the process told Front Office Sports.

Harris, whose company owns the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils, was the first to tour the Denver Broncos’ facility last May. Just a month after that visit, Harris’ bid to acquire that franchise came up short as a group led by Walmart heir Rob Walton agreed to purchase the Broncos for $4.65 billion.

The Athletic was the first outlet to report that Harris had visited the Commanders’ facility in Ashburn.

Harris is worth an estimated $7.87 billion, according to Bloomberg.

In November, Commanders owner Dan Snyder announced that the team would explore its options, including a full or partial sale of the franchise he purchased in 1999 for about $800 million.

FOS previously reported that the first round bids that came in ahead of a December deadline topped out at $6.3 billion and that Snyder was still seeking to net $7 billion for the team.

The NFL Constitution and Bylaws require that one individual who will become a club’s principal owner must have 30% of the total price in cash.

At $6.3 billion, that equates to $1.89 billion — an amount that can be hard to come up with in short order, even for the uber-rich.
