The PGA Tour is set to recoup some, but not all, of the $6 million void left by its split with Good Good Golf, which was set to host and sponsor a new tournament in Austin next month.
The Good Good Championship was renamed the Austin Championship after the golf content creator group pulled out of its PGA Tour sponsorship on Aug. 27 in the wake of backlash to its controversial driver ad with Callaway. The PGA Tour had committed to still holding the event as scheduled, Nov. 12-15 at the Omni Barton Creek resort, and paying out the tournament’s $6 million purse.
Now, Compliance Solutions—a Florida-based tax services company—is set to become a presenting sponsor for the Austin Championship, sources familiar with the matter tell Front Office Sports. The deal is only for this year, and Compliance Solutions is not paying the entire $6 million that Good Good was set to pay as tournament sponsor and host, the sources say.
Compliance Solutions has sponsored a $1.5 million Korn Ferry Tour event in Owasso, Oklahoma, on the PGA Tour’s development circuit since 2023. The existing relationship made for a smoother deal process than bringing in a new partner altogether, according to sources. Practice rounds for the Austin Championship start in 11 days, so there is not much runtime for Compliance Solutions to promote its backing of the event, hence the decreased value in what it is paying for the deal compared to a full-fledged naming rights agreement.
Good Good has been trying to get back to business as usual after losing its PGA Tour and Callaway deals in late August, as well as its Golf Channel show and seeing its merchandise pulled from retail stores across the country.
