Super Bowl Teams Will Wear ‘USA 250’ Jersey Patches

The NFL has already used “America 250” for sidelines, game balls, and coin tosses.

The Patriots and Seahawks will sport “USA 250” patches on their jerseys during the Super Bowl.

The NFL has marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. on the sidelines, game balls, and coin tosses so far in 2026, and plans to continue the festivities at the draft in April.

The patch was first spotted on social media when former Patriots safety Devin McCourty posted a photo on his Instagram story on Wednesday with New England running back TreVeyon Henderson, who was wearing gameday attire. Henderson’s all-white uniform featured Super Bowl LX and USA 250 patches. The photo was the first confirmation of the patches, and New England’s colors for the game. McCourty is an analyst for NBC and will be part of the network’s Super Bowl broadcast team.

The league, Seahawks, and Patriots confirmed the uniforms and “USA 250” patch on social media Thursday. Both teams will also have a Super Bowl LX patch, and the Seahawks have a third to commemorate their 50th season.

The NFL and other sports organizations like U.S. Soccer, the USOPC, and the PGA Championship have partnered with America250, an officially nonpartisan commission chartered by Congress in 2016 to lead celebrations. The group will be part of Super Bowl festivities, and its logo is the one the NFL has been using for game balls and coin tosses. The league has also written “America 250” on the sidelines throughout Week 18 and the playoffs.

In 1976, the Steelers and Cowboys wore commemorative patches in the Super Bowl for the 200th anniversary of the U.S.

Donald Trump said he will not go to Santa Clara after he became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl last year. The trip cost the Secret Service at least $120,000 in hotel bills and a payment to the NFL, according to records obtained last year by Front Office Sports. His first four sports trips of 2025—the Super Bowl, Daytona 500, NCAA Division I men’s wrestling championship, and UFC 314—cost the agency around $800,000, the expense reports released to FOS show.

Athletes and teams across sports have been speaking out against the Trump administration in the past week following Saturday’s killing of protester Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis. The Vikings were among a number of local professional teams who signed a letter calling for an “immediate de-escalation of tensions.”

ICE is at the heart of a potential government shutdown that could go into effect at midnight on Friday, as Senate Democrats are trying to force changes to the agency. It is not clear whether a government shutdown would impact the planned flyover by the Air Force and Navy.
