Trump Official: White House Visit in Works for Viral World Cup Fan

Nick Adams tells Front Office Sports he is planning to host “Freddy” at the White House before the tournament is over.

Every World Cup mints new celebrities on and off the pitch.

This summer’s tournament in North America has generated an unlikely one in “Freddy,” a German soccer fan whose enthusiastic documentation of his American travels under the handle @FreddyLA7 has made him a viral sensation.

In the roughly 10 days since he began posting about what he calls his World Cup “road trip,” Freddy has amassed close to 700,000 followers, and all the while his face and the faces of his travel friends have been covered in the photos they’ve shared.

Soon, Freddy may be on his way to the White House.

Nick Adams, the former conservative media gadfly whose title in the Trump administration is Special Presidential Envoy for American, Tourism, Exceptionalism, and Values, told Front Office Sports in an interview Thursday that he has been in contact with Freddy and is in talks to host the mega-viral World Cup fan at both the White House and State Department before the tournament concludes. (Adams’s role is housed within the State Department.)

“I saw all his posts, and so I took it upon myself to reach out,” Adams told FOS. “I said, ‘Hey, Freddy, I’m the tourism guy in America. I love what you’re saying and what you’re doing … Do you want to come to Washington?
I’d be happy to take you for a tour of the State Department and the White House.’”

The invitation is the latest in a string of high-profile hospitality Freddy has been extended since his arrival stateside.

Alongside his two travel companions—all of whom remain anonymous—the German fan has been given facilities tours by the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans and the LSU Tigers; put up at five-star hotel in Houston by former Texans star defensive end JJ Watt; communed with astronauts at NASA; and scored free tickets to country musician Ella Langley’s concert in Oklahoma City.

Adams’s position was created by President Trump in March. Prior to this new role, Adams—an Australia native—was nominated by Trump as ambassador to Malaysia, but Congress never voted on his nomination.

Adams described his job to FOS as “being the top salesman for America.” He said he did not have any formal relationship with Freddy before his rise to internet fame and communicated with him about the potential visit exclusively through direct messages on X.

The White House and “Freddy” did not immediately respond to messages requesting comment.

Other Trump administration officials, including Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, have amplified Freddy’s journey on X.

Whether the visit would include a meeting with President Donald Trump remains unclear.

“He may be there, he may not be there,” Adams said.

Even without a presidential audience, Adams said he believes a tour of the White House and State Department would be memorable for a first-time visitor.

“You’ve got to put yourself in the shoes of Freddy,” Adams said. “This is a young guy who’s all of a sudden become the most popular man in America.”

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
