Ticket Prices for Game 4 at MSG Drop Following Knicks Loss

An already frenetic NBA Finals ticket market saw more turbulence after the Knicks dropped Game 3.

The Knicks can no longer sweep the NBA Finals, and as a result, money in the ticket resale market is quickly shifting toward a potential Game 6 next week at Madison Square Garden.

New York’s 115–111 loss to San Antonio in Game 3 on Monday generated yet another day of chaotic movement across an already frenetic ticket market for the event.

As of Tuesday morning, low-end, get-in pricing for Wednesday’s Game 4 sank below $4,800 per ticket. That’s less than a third of where the market was on Saturday and just over half the level on Monday. The precipitous drop is happening as Game 4 is no longer a potential clinching scenario as the Knicks seek their first NBA title since 1973.

A potential Game 6 on June 16, meanwhile, is seeing another resurgence in pricing after a slight dip prior to Monday’s Game 3—which included a heavy show of security for a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Game 6, if necessary, now carries a get-in price of nearly $12,000 per ticket—up from $11,000 on Monday and roughly even with Saturday—and now represents the last remaining possibility for a title clinch by the Knicks at home.

Even with the massive drop in demand for Game 4, the current pricing for the games at MSG exceeds the comparable figure of $3,800 for February’s Super Bowl LX. The Knicks’ loss on Monday, meanwhile, was their first since April 23 in what has been a torrid postseason run by the team.

As has been the case throughout the NBA Finals, games in San Antonio remain a relative bargain to anything happening in New York. Game 5 on Saturday at Frost Bank Center, a game now assured of happening, has a get-in resale price of about $1,700 per ticket. Pricing for a potential Game 7 in San Antonio, meanwhile, begins at around $4,400.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
