Scottie Scheffler’s excellent year just got a little bit sweeter.
By finishing atop the 2021-22 FedEx Cup regular-season standings, Scheffler will take home a $4 million bonus as part of the Comcast Business Tour Top 10.
The program is one of several measures the Tour has taken in recent years to provide more financial opportunities and incentives to players. It rewards the top 10 players at the end of the regular season from a $20 million bonus pool — double the reward from last season, Comcast’s first as sponsor.
Scheffler took home the top prize, with Sungjae Im earning $1 million in the last slot after a second-place finish at the Wyndham Championship allowed him to sneak into the rankings.
Scheffler’s on-course proficiency — including four wins, nine top-10s, and 16 top-25s — has paid off this season: He earned a career-high $13.2 million so far, giving him $20.7 million in career tournament winnings.
He’ll have a chance to earn more at the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which carries an $18 million prize for winning the Tour Championship.
With pressure from LIV Golf mounting, the PGA Tour is attempting to up the ante for player compensation.
Last week, it announced a record $428.6 million prize pool for the 2022-23 season.
