PGA of America Extends Ryder Cup Deal With NBC and Versant

The Ryder Cup will remain mostly on NBC through at least the 2033 edition in San Francisco, thanks to a new deal announced Monday.

The PGA of America—which operates the Ryder Cup and PGA Championships—has signed a two-year extension of its current media rights agreement with NBC Sports and USA Sports, which includes the U.S. TV rights to the Ryder Cup, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Senior PGA Championship, and the PGA Professional Championship.

The opening day of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York aired on USA Network, while the final two days aired on NBC and Peacock, with Golf Channel airing live studio coverage all three days.

The previous media rights deal, which was signed in 2013, originally ran through 2030 and was extended by one year to 2031 due to the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits being delayed from 2020 to 2021.

Last year, Comcast spun off its cable network assets—including USA Network and Golf Channel—into Versant, which began trading as a separate public company on the Nasdaq in January.

This marks the second major golf rights partnership struck between NBC Sports and Versant since the split. In August, the USGA—whose deal with NBC Sports was expiring in 2026—signed an extension with NBC Sports and Versant through 2032.

Two more shared golf media rights deals that began well before the Versant spinoff are soon expiring: The R&A/Open Championship rights in 2028 and PGA Tour rights in 2030. “We both have to be prepared that we will negotiate independently,” Versant EVP of Golf Tom Knapp told Front Office Sports in January.

NBC Sports and Versant are both expected to pursue extensions of those deals when negotiations begin. The PGA Tour—like many other leagues—could look to renegotiate its deals early, as many in the sports industry fear a lack of appetite for new deals coming if the NFL successfully renegotiates its own media deals sooner than expected.

Versant also recently extended its DP World Tour media rights deal through 2030.

The PGA of America has a separate media rights deal for the men’s PGA Championship, with CBS and ESPN holding those rights through 2030.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
