NFLPA Tells Cardinals, Fanatics, NFL Not to Sell Marvin Harrison Jr. Jerseys

  • Fanatics is suing Harrison Jr. for alleged breach of contract.
  • Harrison is expected to be among the league’s more popular rookies.

Good luck buying a Marvin Harrison Jr. jersey before the NFL season starts.

The dispute between Harrison—the fourth pick in April’s NFL draft—and retail giant Fanatics has taken another turn. The NFL Network recently reported that the NFLPA told the NFL, the Cardinals, and Fanatics not to sell Harrison jerseys, based on the wishes of his representatives.

Fanatics is suing Harrison for a breach of contract. Harrison had declined to sign the NFLPA licensing agreement after he was drafted, preventing his jersey and other items from being sold. Fanatics is alleging Harrison signed a deal with the company in 2023, but “has refused to fulfill his obligations to the deal while he also ‘publicly asserted’ that the contract does not exist.” The suit alleges that Harrison’s camp leaked “misleading” information about his dispute with Fanatics to ESPN’s Pat McAfee.

Fanatics did not immediately respond to Front Office Sports’s request for comment Monday.

A search of Harrison’s name on the Cardinals’ team store shows no items available for the son of the former Hall of Famer. Harrison, who starred at Ohio State, is expected to be one of the league’s more popular rookies. Michael Jordan was heard telling Marvin Harrison Sr. at this weekend’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction that he tried to sign the younger Harrison to his Jordan brand, “but Nike took him!”

The Cardinals are set to kick off the regular season on Sept. 8.
