WNBA players may be overlooked by some who have historically focused solely on the NBA, but the league’s presence is being felt. With over two million viewers and plans to double their media rights, the WNBA is headed towards greater visibility.
Small forwards tend to be some of the most versatile members of WNBA rosters, and the highest-paid small forwards earn well over $150,000 annually.
Gabby Williams is the highest-paid WNBA small forward earning $225,000 annually. Williams signed a one-year extension in February with the Storm that triples her salary from the previous contract.
Second is the Mercury’s Satou Sabally bringing in $215,000. She was part of a four team trade involving 14 players. Sabally had played her entire career in Dallas and was their second overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
DeWanna Bonner earns $200,000 with the Fever to land third. Bonner signed a one-year deal in February after becoming a free agent.
Bonner is also the only small forward to have earned over $1 million in her career, something that is bound to change in the near future once WNBA salaries spike.
Fourth on the list is Alysha Clark earning $185,000 with the Storm. She’s earned $660,550 over her 12-year career with four teams. Clark left the Aces after two years to sign with Seattle earlier this month.
Rounding out the top five is Nia Coffey of the Dream. Coffey is in her second stint with Atlanta after she was traded there from Las Vegas. She signed a two-year contract last February worth $300,000.
Only ten of the 25 highest-paid small forwards earn at least $100,000 annually. Breakout star for the Sky Angel Reese doesn’t even crack the top 15, sitting at 16th earning $81,096.
The Fever lead all teams with four players featured among the highest-paid small forwards. The Storm, Valkyries, Sparks and Wings all have three small forwards making the list.
