WNBA Star Chelsea Gray to Join Prime Video As Player Contributor

The Aces’ star guard is the latest active professional basketball player to take on an in-season media role.

Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray is joining Amazon Prime Video’s WNBA on Prime pregame show as a player contributor, where she will make select in-studio appearances throughout the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season, Front Office Sports has learned.

Midseason media gigs have become a bona fide trend across the WNBA and NBA in recent years. Gray joins Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Plum as active players to take on similar roles this season—the former with USA Network and the latter also with Prime Video.

Two active NBA players—Kyle Lowry and Tyrese Haliburton—contributed to the Amazon-owned streaming service’s NBA coverage this past season. They follow in the footsteps of Draymond Green, who began to make in-season television appearances with TNT Sports in 2022.

“I think networks have started to realize that there is no better point of view to spotlight than an actual player,” Gray told FOS about the trend. “You can assume what it feels like and sounds like, but unless you’re in the trenches every day … you don’t really know. Being able to speak on that experience in real time is cool and special.”

Gray, the only active four-time WNBA champion, said her career résumé and track record will inform what she brings to the analyst desk.

“Championships are built in the regular season through small details and small moments that viewers at home might not be able to pick up on,” the six-time All-Star said. “I’ll definitely be pointing those out.” (If Plum’s early appearances on WNBA on Prime are any indication, she’ll be doing a lot of shootarounds, too.)

The new role with Prime Video isn’t Gray’s first foray into media; the Duke product joined the Sacramento Kings’ broadcast team during the 2023–24 NBA season and has served as a women’s college basketball analyst for the ACC Network.

It will, however, be her first time commenting on her current competition—but she’s confident she can strike the right tone.

“I’m well respected around the league and I’ve won multiple times,” Gray told FOS. “So I think when I do speak, it’ll be from an optimistic lens, and from a lens of deeply understanding the game.”

Prime Video’s WNBA package features 31 regular-season games, including the Commissioner’s Cup championship, which Gray and her Aces will play in tomorrow against the New York Liberty. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
