  • The team has already done 36% more in online sales than the highest-selling City Connect team did all of last season.

Houston set an astronomical sales record with the release of its new alternate jerseys.

The Astros’ Space City uniforms had the largest launch day sales of any of the nine MLB teams involved in Nike’s City Connect program, beating the previous record by 329%.

Further, the accompanying New Era On Field Fitted Caps sold 422% more than the previous record holder. The Astros did 36% more in online sales within the first two days of launch than the highest-selling City Connect team did all of last season.

There were also several franchise sales milestones. It was the largest launch in Astros Team Store history, beating the 2017 World Series Champion Gold Rush event by 73% to claim the largest regular-season sales day in store history.

Houston’s first new uniform in six years, the Space City set pays homage to the city’s place in the history of space travel.

The team wore the uniform in-game for the first time against the Angels on Wednesday.
