MEDINAH, Ill. — Presidents Cup ticket prices on the resale market have dropped below face value in the leadup to the biennial team golf event that begins Thursday at Medinah Country Club in suburban Chicago.

Daily grounds access for the four-day competition costs between $119 and $184 for face value passes being sold by Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner of the Presidents Cup. But resale tickets on other secondary platforms like SeatGeek are selling for roughly $20-$30 less, depending on the day.

The Presidents Cup features U.S. golfers competing against players from international countries outside of Europe. There is one session of five team matches on Thursday and Friday, two sessions of four team matches (eight total) on Saturday, and 12 singles matches on Sunday featuring all players from both teams.

The PGA Tour, which operates the Presidents Cup, is expecting up to 150,000 fans total this week at Medinah across the four competition days and two practice rounds in which fans were allowed. No day has sold out of general admission tickets.

Here are the face value general admission prices for the Presidents Cup compared with cheaper resale prices found online as of Wednesday afternoon.

  • Thursday: $119 / $87
  • Friday: $151 / $126
  • Saturday: $184 / $156
  • Sunday: $156 /$134

Tickets for some premium options are reselling at an even higher discounted rate than grounds passes are.

The Captains’ Club—which includes entry to the tournament and access to a hospitality area with free beer and alcoholic seltzers—costs between $354 (cheapest day on Thursday) and $429 (most expensive day on Saturday). But resale prices are roughly $200 cheaper on secondary markets, ranging from as low as $143 on Thursday to no more than $220 for the most expensive ticket on Saturday.

Two fans told Front Office Sports on Wednesday that they bought Captains’ Club tickets for the practice round for just over $40 (face value was $204), which would be roughly the price of four Michelob Ultras at the Presidents Cup general concession stands ($10.50 each).

The soft Presidents Cup ticket market comes after a similar situation at the PGA Championship in May, when resale prices for the sold-out major at Aronimink Golf Club just outside Philadelphia also dropped significantly below face value during the week of the tournament.

Medinah was hit by severe rain storms late last week and temperatures have been in the 60s early this week as the course dries out, but weather is not expected to be an issue once the Presidents Cup begins on Thursday, with temperatures creeping back into the 70s over the weekend. Medinah is about 25 miles from downtown Chicago, in the suburbs past O’Hare International Airport.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
