MLB Field of Dreams Tickets Push Near $1,000, Even With Rain in Forecast

MLB is going back to Iowa for a third time for its Field of Dreams game, but for fans, it hasn’t been a situation of diminishing returns.

As MLB goes through final preparations for the third iteration of its Field of Dreams game, there has been no let up in ticket demand among fans.

Resale pricing for Thursday’s game in Dyersville, Iowa, between the Phillies and Twins begins at about $650 per ticket across multiple marketplaces, but for most seats begins at more than $1,100. Those prices are similar to what occurred for the last version of this special-event game four years ago.

On the primary market, tickets for the Field of Dreams game sold out months ago, with a limited allotment for Twins season-ticket holders and then a lottery for Iowa residents. The resale market, however, is resembling the high demand seen for last month’s MLB All-Star Game.

The 2026 Field of Dreams game, to be streamed exclusively on Netflix, will take advantage of a newly completed stadium built at the filming site of the 1989 Field of Dreams movie starring Kevin Costner. That facility seats about 8,000, and contains key elements such as permanent player locker rooms and redesigned seating, improving significantly beyond the many temporary elements used for the MLB games there in 2021 and 2022.

The upcoming showcase, meanwhile, occupies a key part of the MLB schedule, happening after the recent All-Star Game in Philadelphia and the trade deadline, but before the September chase for postseason slots.

“It’s really important for the league to be able to program these special events at different times of the year, and in locations that are not always getting major-league games,” said SVP of global operations and events Jeremiah Yolkut. “What we’ve created is a moment that can really harken back to what the movie was all about.”

Storm Preparations

MLB, meanwhile, went through a practice run for Thursday’s main event, holding a minor-league game on Tuesday between the St. Paul Saints, the Twins’ top affiliate, and the Iowa Cubs, the top affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

That game, won by Iowa, happened after severe thunderstorms and strong winds ran through Dyersville, creating some minor damage around town.

Thursday’s forecast also looks somewhat more uncertain after picture-perfect conditions for the first two Field of Dreams contests. More rain is expected in Dyersville early Thursday, but as of early Wednesday, a pocket of drier weather is anticipated for the evening, when the game is scheduled.

The weather uncertainty, meanwhile, also recalls last year’s MLB special-event game, the MLB Speedway Classic at the Bristol Motor Speedway that was also marred by rain. If Thursday’s conditions in Iowa worsen, there is a rain date of Friday for the Field of Dreams game. That day is currently an open date in the schedule for the Phillies and Twins.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
