On-air ESPN talent facing layoffs this summer might have a new job option.

DraftKings is planning to launch a free video streaming service, complete with sports podcasts, according to Bloomberg.

The shows are expected to be video versions of podcasts that DraftKings already supports financially. They could debut in the next few weeks.

“Over the years, DraftKings has expanded our media footprint by securing top talent and trusted personalities across sports media, and we’ve begun the initial rollout of DK Network,” DraftKings told Bloomberg in a statement.

The move is another example of sports betting operators morphing into media companies.

In recent years, on-air talent has been migrating from traditional linear media networks to gambling giants. Sports betting giants like DraftKings and FanDuel are also forming strategic partnerships to reach sports consumers.

  • DraftKings has a partnership with Meadowlark Media, the sports content startup by former ESPN president John Skipper and ESPN personality Dan Le Batard.
  • Kay Adams, the longtime anchor of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” has launched a new show for FanDuel TV called “Up & Adams.”
  • Former ESPNers Kenny Mayne and Trey Wingo have joined Caesars Sportsbook.
  • Ex-ESPN Radio personality Mike Golic Jr. now hosts a podcast for DraftKings.

ESPN, meanwhile, launched a series of layoffs this week to comply with parent The Walt Disney Co.’s dictate to slash 7,000 jobs and $5.5 billion in costs worldwide.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
