U.S. President Donald Trump has a busy sports weekend ahead, planning to attend the Texas-Tennessee game in Knoxville on Saturday night and then the Presidents Cup, where he is serving as honorary captain, on Sunday in suburban Chicago.
When Trump arrives at Medinah Country Club for the final round of the biennial team golf event, he’ll have a custom presidential-themed golf cart at his disposal thanks to some creative work from the tournament’s longtime golf cart supplier.
Club Car created a special “honorary captain’s cart” for Trump. The company provided Front Office Sports with a first look at the custom vehicle, which has the presidential seal painted on its hood and the number “47” stitched into the front seat. The red, white, and blue design also incorporates the American flag and military fighter jets—a nod to America’s 250th birthday, which many other sporting events have paid tribute to this year as well.
The specific golf cart model, Club Car’s Onward 4 Passenger, has a suggested retail price of $11,299. The vehicle is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion battery, with a top speed of 19 mph. The golf cart is on site at Medinah but currently under safe-keeping until Sunday when Trump arrives.
“The White House team is aware of it and we’re hopeful the president will appreciate it when he arrives at Medinah on Sunday,” a Club Car spokesperson told FOS.
Club Car—which is headquartered in Augusta, Georgia, and manufacturers all of its golf carts in the U.S.—has supplied carts for the Presidents Cup since the event began in 1994. Other honorary Presidents Cup captains have received golf carts in the past, but none with this level of customization.
Both the U.S. and International teams are using fleets of specially designed golf carts this week at Medinah painted with their specific team colors (red, white and blue for the U.S. and black and yellow for the internationals). Club Car is also the official golf car of the PGA Tour’s TPC Network of golf courses across the country.
