Amazon Prime Video is expanding its reach in Australia with one of the most popular sports in the world.

On Monday, the International Cricket Council and Prime Video announced a four-year deal to see the streamer as Australia’s exclusive broadcast rights holder for all ICC events from 2024 through 2027.

These include the men’s and women’s Cricket World Cups, T20 World Cups, Champions Trophy, U19s, and the World Test Championship Final for a total of 448 live games.

Amazon is striking while the iron is hot, as Australia upset host nation India in last month’s final of the 2023 Men’s World Cup. The tournament set a record for attendance (1.25 million), while the final notched one for streaming viewership, with Disney’s Hotstar topping out at 59 million concurrent viewers.

“The recently concluded Men’s Cricket World Cup has highlighted the interest and passion for ICC Events across the globe, and especially in Australia where cricket fans have enjoyed the recent success of their men’s and women’s teams,” said ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice. “We look forward to working with Prime Video Australia to provide an innovative coverage of world-class cricket to more fans in Australia.”

One of the world’s most popular sports, cricket, is becoming more global by the day. In October, the International Olympic Committee announced that cricket would be one of the sports added to the program for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
