The NFL and NFL Films have selected the New York Jets to appear on Hard Knocks, marking the second time the franchise will be the focus of the HBO series.

The Jets also were selected to appear on Hard Knocks in 2010. Cameras for this year’s series will begin rolling on July 19 when the Jets report to training camp, according to ESPN.

Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has turned the Jets into the apple of the NFL’s eye since he was traded from Green Bay to Gang Green in April. The NFL has scheduled the Jets for five primetime games this season and the first-ever Black Friday game against the Miami Dolphins that will stream on Amazon Prime Video.

The Jets were among four teams eligible for this year’s Hard Knocks, alongside the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and Washington Commanders. To be eligible to be selected by the NFL, teams cannot fit into this criteria: they have a first-year head coach in place, made the playoffs in the past two seasons, or appeared on Hard Knocks in the past ten years.

Robert Saleh, who is entering his third year as the Jets head coach and still looking for his first winning season, opposed having his team appear on Hard Knocks.

“I know there are several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building. We’re just not one of them,” Saleh said last month, per the New York Post.

Hard Knocks debuted on HBO in 2001. Over the past two NFL seasons, the league has picked a second NFL team to appear in an in-season edition of the series. The Jets will only appear on the training camp edition of the series, a source confirmed to Front Office Sports.
