Last week’s U.S. Women’s Open on NBC Sports was the most-watched edition of the golf tournament since 2014, with Sunday’s final round on NBC and Peacock reaching 2.2 million peak viewers.
It was the second most-watched U.S. Women’s Open since 2009 and the most-watched West Coast U.S. Women’s Open in 20 years.
Linear viewership for the four-day tournament at Pebble Beach averaged 895,000 viewers, up 118% over last year’s Women’s Open coverage on NBC and USA Network. This year’s Women’s Open included 20 hours of linear NBC and USA Network coverage.
Sunday’s final round on NBC and Peacock averaged 1.58 million viewers as Allisen Corpuz became the first American in seven years to win the U.S. Women’s Open. She received $2 million for her victory as part of the tournament’s record $11 million prize purse.
Weekend viewership on NBC and Peacock–which included the first East Coast primetime coverage in U.S. Women’s Open history–averaged 1.34 million viewers, an increase of 76% vs. last year’s weekend viewership and 35% more than the 2021 coverage.
Rose Zhang, a 20-year-old golf phenom who could drive viewership as a new face of the LPGA Tour, finished tied for 9th at the U.S. Women’s Open. She now has a win, and two top-10 finishes in her first three career pro starts.
NBC also said last week’s 78th U.S. Women’s Open was the most-streamed women’s golf event in NBC Sports history, nearly tripling its streaming consumption from a year ago.
