USC to Build $38 Million Women’s Soccer, Lacrosse Stadium

USC’s women’s soccer and lacrosse programs are getting a new $38 million home called Rawlinson Stadium. The stadium is set to open in 2025 and will more than double the seating capacity for fans compared to the school’s current women’s soccer and lacrosse field.

The Fritz B. Burns Foundation donated $10 million to fund USC’s new project, which will cost $38 million in total. Construction will begin later this year on the site of Soni McAlister Field, the current home for USC’s women’s soccer and lacrosse programs that have been used since 1998 and is limited to 1,000 spectators. USC released renderings of Rawlinson Stadium on Monday.

Rawlinson Stadium will span 2,200 fixed seats with a total capacity of 2,500 on game days and separate locker rooms for the soccer and lacrosse teams. The stadium will also include an LED video board and stadium-wide audio system, field lights and a natural grass playing surface, spectator viewing decks and social spaces, a state-of-the-art press box, a sports medicine space, a nutrition bar, and team meeting areas.

The stadium is named after the family of the late Los Angeles philanthropist Joseph Rawlinson. Its opening will occur one year after USC’s athletic programs join the Big Ten in 2024, with this year being the final year of USC and UCLA being part of the Pac-12.

USC women’s soccer has won two NCAA national championships in 2007 and 2016. The Trojans women’s lacrosse program won the 2023 Pac-12 regular season championship but have never won an NCAA championship.
