Jordan Brand

On Thursday, Jordan Brand announced a 20-year partnership with Howard University, one of the country’s preeminent Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

The Nike subsidiary will unveil the first Jumpman uniforms for the program on August 27.

Jordan Brand president Craig Williams — a graduate of HBCU Benedict College — sees the partnership as an opportunity to invest in students at Howard.

“As a HBCU graduate, I understand the educational impact an institution like Howard University has,” he said. “We are proud to partner with Howard University and see the growth in Black talent on the field and well beyond it.”

The university sees a similar future through the partnership.

“Partnering with Jordan Brand is another signal of our ambitions as a university to become an even brighter beacon for Black Excellence,” said Howard University president Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick. “We are thrilled to work on that vision of greatness together.”

Jordan Brand’s partnership with Howard is the company’s latest in its commitment to the Black Community.

In June 2020, Jordan announced it will donate $100 million over 10 years to “organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality, social justice and greater access to education.”
