The epic showdown for the undisputed lightweight crown at a sold-out Madison Square Garden drew a global audience of 1.5 million, according to the live streaming service DAZN.

In the first women’s boxing match to headline a card at MSG, Taylor edged Serrano by split decision after 10 rounds to retain her title in front of a crowd of 19,187.

According to DAZN, more than 170 markets around the world viewed the fight, led by the U.S. and U.K. and followed by Spain, Canada, and Ireland.

DAZN also laid claim to the highest-grossing app globally on Apple and Google over the weekend.

Heading into the fight, Serrano told Front Office Sports that the much-publicized bout was “very important” for the growth of women’s boxing. The record viewership will be welcome news for the sport.
