Auction House Voids $519,000 Sale of Tom Brady’s ‘Last’ TD Ball

  • The seven-time Super Bowl winner unretired less than 24 hours after the auction ended March 12.
  • The voiding of the sale took a month so the parties involved could confirm Brady would stay unretired.

Leland Auctions said that last month’s $519,000 sale of the ball Tom Brady threw for (what was believed to be) his final NFL touchdown pass has been voided.

In January, Brady had announced his retirement after 22 seasons. The auction for the ball Mike Evans caught in the Buccaneers’ NFC divisional loss to the Rams closed March 12.

Less than 24 hours later, the seven-time Super Bowl champion ended his retirement, dramatically dropping the value of the football Evans had thrown into the stands after scoring — though it still attracted multiple prospective buyers.

Lelands said an agreement between the buyer, auction house, and consigner — the fan who caught the ball — has been voided.

It took a month to void the sale so everyone involved could confirm Brady would stay unretired.

Helping matters was the fact the buyer hadn’t yet paid — and that in its listing, the auction house described it as “Tom Brady’s Last Touchdown Pass Football.”

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
