Tuesday’s games between the Miami Marlins and Baltimore Orioles at Marlins Park and the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park are reportedly being postponed for the second straight day following a COVID-19 outbreak within the Marlins organization.

The Phillies and the Marlins opened the season with a series at Citizens Bank Park over the weekend, meaning the Yankees would use the same clubhouse Miami did. The Yankees have now left Philadelphia and returned to New York to practice at Yankee Stadium, according to The New York Post.

Marlins starter José Ureña was scratched ahead of Sunday’s game as reports came out that multiple Marlins players had tested positive. By Monday morning, at least 13 members of the organization had tested positive, and Tuesday morning, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported four more, bringing the total to 17.

Members of the Phillies organization were tested yesterday but no players or coaches have tested positive, according to ESPN. However, according to the CDC, the incubation period for the virus is up to 14 days.

Under MLB’s agreement for the 2020 season, Commissioner Rob Manfred has the jurisdiction to suspend or cancel the season due to an outbreak or if competitive viability is compromised. MLB has not yet issued a statement if the postponed games will be played in the future. The Marlins are down half of their Opening Day 30-man roster, meaning their ability to field a competitive team could be in jeopardy.
