Matchlete: Coming to a College Near You

Atlanta based startup aims to take the guessing out of the college recruiting process

Were you recruited in high school? Did you find the process of searching for schools tough and monotonous? Matchlete, an Atlanta based startup is aiming to make finding a fit as easy as search and match.

Founded by Jeremy Jones and Matt Roark, two former Division 1 football players at the University of Kentucky, the app aims to take the guessing out of the college recruitment process.

The mobile app search engine that helps student-athletes find the best college program to fit their academic, athletic and career goals.

With a revolutionary search and match feature, Jones hopes that the app will allow prospective student-athletes the ability to get a holistic view of the universities they are interested in.

“With the search and match feature, student-athletes will be able to get a look into the academics of the university as well as being able to see what kind of offense the team runs and who the coaches are,” said Jones.

Not only will the student-athletes be able to search for schools, they will also have a profile in the app that allows them to put all their athletic and academic information in one place.

Inside the profile, the student-athletes will be able to rank 8 categories of what is important to them when it comes to recruiting such as academics, playing scheme and location.

Jones hopes that this helps the prospective student-athletes as well as the coaches and recruiting coordinators at each university.

“By allowing these student-athletes to rank what is important to them, not only will they be matched better with schools, the coaches and recruiting coordinators will be able to use this data to tailor recruiting pitches and visits,” added Jones. “The idea is to make the whole process more efficient and better for each party involved.”

Although the app is still in beta, they plan to have a version available to the general public by the end of this year and hope to spread their reach from Georgia to Florida, Texas and California.

Starting with football, Jones and Roark plan to include baseball, basketball, soccer and lacrosse in later versions of the app.
