The Dodgers’ bid for MLB’s first three-peat championship in 26 years is fading, and the ticket resale market shows that emerging reality.

The National League Championship Series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, with the Brewers holding a commanding 2–0 lead. In two rollicking games at American Family Field, Milwaukee came back from early deficits in both contests to win, and gave Los Angeles its biggest postseason series deficit since being swept by Arizona in the 2023 NL Division Series.

As fans’ confidence in the team declines, so have ticket prices. The get-in price on the resale market for Game 3 has fallen to $97 per ticket, down by 42% compared to Monday, according to TicketData. Tickets to Thursday’s Game 4 are down by 37% over the past three days to a $98 get-in price.

“We’ve just got to win [Wednesday],” Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s not the position we expected to be in. [The Brewers] have a very good ball club. They’ve earned those two wins. We’ve got to win. So I don’t think it’s any more simple than that.”

The Dodgers have been MLB’s most-attended team for the past 13 years, and regularly fill the league’s largest stadium, so any relative softness in the team’s ticket market is noteworthy.

Conversely, hopes are rising for the Brewers reaching their first World Series since 1982. Get-in resale pricing for a potential World Series Game 1 in Milwaukee on Oct. 23 stands at $1,122 per ticket, up by 2% since Monday.

On betting markets, the Brewers have an implied probability of 74% of winning the NLCS.

Ohtani Watch

Part of the Dodgers’ struggles center on designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. The superstar hasn’t pitched since early July, and he recently came back from a stay on the injured list due to right bicep and left knee issues.

Ohtani, however, still isn’t fully healthy, and has struggled badly at the plate. In the postseason, he’s batted just .150 and has no extra-base hits. That has extended a slump in which he’s hit just .197 in his last 35 games, and since Aug. 18, he has no home runs and has driven in just one run.

“The symptoms shouldn’t be the reason why I can’t hit,” Ohtani said Thursday through interpreter Will Ireton.

The Dodgers briefly considered benching Ohtani for Game 3 of the NLCS to give him additional rest, but he is expected to be in the lineup. Already in the postseason, Ohtani has been dropped multiple times in the batting order.

“In this big moment, we’re listening to Shohei, and we’re going to support the crap out of him and believe in him, and that’s it,” Roberts said.
