US Open Ticket Prices Surge Despite Sinner, Alcaraz Questions

US Open get-in prices are running nearly 26% ahead of last year, even as injuries cloud the status of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

US Open ticket prices are climbing ahead of this year’s final Grand Slam, even as injuries have raised questions about whether ATP’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will be healthy enough to compete.

With 20 days until the tournament begins, the average get-in price is $322, up from $256 at the same point last year, according to TicketData. The average get-in price has increased 17.3% over the past 30 days, and has been steadily rising for roughly two months, up from an average of $260 at the beginning of June.

Uncertainty around the tournament’s biggest stars grew Sunday, when Sinner withdrew from the Cincinnati Open because of an issue with his right knee.

“After consulting with my doctors and my team, I have to announce that I need to withdraw from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati,” Sinner said in a statement. “My right knee has been bothering me and even though we have been working hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I’m not ready to compete yet.”

Sinner said he is now focused on getting ready for the US Open, which begins Aug. 30, but his status for the tournament remains uncertain.

His withdrawal came five days after Alcaraz pulled out of Cincinnati as he continues to recover from a wrist injury that has kept him off the court since April. Alcaraz also missed the French Open and Wimbledon this year, though he is expected to try to compete in New York.

Despite the uncertainty, demand for US Open tickets remains strong.

“Whatever uncertainty there is hasn’t shown up in the market,” TicketData’s Keith Pagello told Front Office Sports. “Prices climbed right through both Cincinnati withdrawals.”

Beyond the Stars

The average get-in price for the opening round is currently $250, compared with $170 at the same point before last year’s tournament—a 47% increase. Arthur Ashe Stadium’s day-session tickets have increased 27.9% over the past 30 days to an average get-in price of $355.

Pagello said demand appears to be broader than any single player, meaning even a withdrawal by Sinner or Alcaraz may not significantly move the overall market. “Even if one of them did withdraw, I don’t think you’d see a sharp, sudden drop in overall prices,” he said.

The women’s draw also features several of tennis’s biggest stars like Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff, drawing demand beyond just the men’s favorites.

The biggest potential impact could come later in the tournament, where ticket prices are more dependent on the players who advance. Current semifinal get-in prices average $333, while the finals average $567.

If both Sinner and Alcaraz were to miss the tournament, Alexander Zverev—who took home the French Open championship in June—would become the biggest favorite to win the men’s title, according to Kalshi betting odds. Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, and Taylor Fritz would also be among leading contenders.

There is still time for prices to change.

Last year, prices dipped over the final two weeks before the tournament as resellers looked to sell remaining inventory, Pagello said. Once play began, prices generally rose across most sessions of the tournament, though he said the market is heavily influenced by which players advance, when they are scheduled to play, and weather.

That makes the status of Alcaraz and Sinner especially notable given their recent dominance at the US Open. Alcaraz defeated Sinner in last year’s US Open final, while Sinner won the tournament in 2024. Novak Djokovic, who won in 2023, is the only other player to win the title over the past three years.
