Jaguars Adjust Their London Plans for $1.4B Stadium Overhaul

The Jaguars, for the first time, will play two regular-season home games in London during the 2026 NFL season.

The Jaguars, for the first time, will play two regular-season home games in London during the 2026 NFL season, as EverBank Stadium will have reduced capacity this fall before the team plays all of its 2027 home games outside of Jacksonville.

In 2023 and 2024, the Jaguars gave up a home game to play at Wembley Stadium (as part of the team’s longstanding deal to play annually in London) while playing as the designated away team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jaguars president Mark Lamping said during a press conference Wednesday morning that the 2026 London moves were intentional—and will allow the team to skip a future international appearance.

All 32 NFL clubs are required to play one league-operated international game every four years (the Jaguars’ deal to play an annual game at Wembley is separate, and the team operates and receives all revenue from that contest). The Jaguars were tentatively scheduled to play in those league-operated international games in 2027 and 2030, but the NFL agreed to move the 2030 game to 2026.

“Trading a game in a stadium under construction with reduced capacity, and getting a game back in our brand new stadium, we think that makes sense for all involved,” Lamping said.

After the Jaguars’ $1.4 billion renovation of EverBank Stadium is completed in 2028, Lamping indicated the team will re-evaluate its international approach. “I think you can expect us to take a close look at what our London strategy is moving forward,” he said. “Not to suggest that we’re gonna stop playing a game in London, but it is something that we will look very closely.”

A Subdued 2026

EverBank Stadium’s capacity in 2026 will be reduced by almost 40 percent—from 70,144 to 42,507—for the team’s six regular-season home games and two preseason games at the venue.

More than 22,000 of the 27,637 seats that will be unavailable are located in the stadium’s upper bowl, with some others in the lower bowl’s corner and end zone seating. Impacted season-ticket holders are being notified individually and will have the chance to relocate with “preferred pricing options.”

Lamping said the Jaguars have requested that the NFL schedule a bye week after their two-game London stint, and place a road game either directly before the trip or after the bye, in order to give the team a month-long window for more construction at EverBank Stadium.

2027 Plans Coming Soon

Lamping said the Jaguars are “getting very close to a resolution” on where the team will play home games in 2027, with the expectation that a decision could be finalized at the next NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, March 29–April 1.

The Jaguars previously did not confirm a report from the Orlando Sentinel in November that the team had decided to make Camping World Stadium its temporary venue during the 2027 season, choosing that option over “The Swamp” at the University of Florida (Ben Hill Griffin Stadium).

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
