The NFL commands tens of billions of dollars for the media rights to stream games. A huge part of the league’s sustained success and continually growing popularity has been its growth in offense.

As play-calling on both sides of the ball continues to innovate, offensive coordinators are charged with adjusting to evolving defenses and drawing up the right plays to get points on the board.

So how much do NFL offensive coordinators make? Although they aren’t making as much as head coaches, the highest-paid NFL offensive coordinators earn millions to maximize their team’s offensive players.

Who Is The Highest-Paid Offensive Coordinator In The NFL?

Chip Kelly is the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL, earning $6 million annually upon joining the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2025 offseason, according to a report from Sports Illustrated. This is actually Kelly’s first time as an NFL offensive coordinator, but he was previously the head coach and primary offensive play-caller for the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-15) and San Francisco 49ers (2016).

He was the offensive coordinator of the college football national champion Ohio State in 2024 before being lured back to the NFL by the Raiders.

What Does An NFL Offensive Coordinator Make?

As of 2022, the average coordinator salary in the NFL was $1 million, per NBC Sports.

Data on specific offensive coordinator salaries is hard to come by as the information is usually kept private. We do know that Kelly is the current highest-paid NFL coordinator on either side of the ball. ESPN reported in February upon Kellen Moore’s departure to become the New Orleans Saints head coach that Moore made roughly $2.5 million as Eagles offensive coordinator in 2024. Though that was thought to be in the higher end of coordinator salaries, the Saints were expected to double or triple that number in order to make Moore their next head coach.

Who Are The NFL’s Highest-Paid Offensive Coordinators?

With so few offensive coordinator salary details publicly available, there is no way to know for sure the full list of the NFL’s highest-paid offensive coordinators aside from Kelly. Among those thought to be within the highest-paid current NFL offensive coordinators is Todd Monken of the Ravens, who signed a new contract extension in February to remain in Baltimore with star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Monken interviewed for the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching jobs before returning to Baltimore.
