The Premier League holds a firm grip as the most popular soccer league in the world with the most valuable soccer clubs. At the head of player transfers and strategy are the managers.
The constant pressure to perform and win trophies results in lofty salaries for the highest-paid Premier League managers.
Pep Guardiola stands alone atop the list as the highest-paid Premier League manager of 2024. His $25.8 million salary is one of the highest for a soccer manager in the world.
Guardiola spent the first half of his coaching career in his native Spain, coaching Barcelona for 247 matches. He has won 19 trophies in his career coaching in Spain, Germany, and England.
Mikel Arteta of Arsenal comes in second. He earns $19.4 million managing for the club he once played for as a player.
In September, he signed an extension that almost doubled his salary. During his time at the club, Arteta has helped rebuild Arsenal into a perennial title contender.
Third on the list is Unai Emery of Aston Villa. He brings in $10.3 million working for the Birmingham-based club.
Emery helped Aston Villa reach the Champions League for the 2024-2025 season for the first time in 41 years.
Ruben Amorim of Manchester United takes fourth earning $8.4 million. He signed a contract with United on November 1st through 2027.
Amorim managed Sporting Portugal for three seasons but will now be in charge of one of the most valuable clubs in the world.
Arne Slot holds the fifth spot on the list. He will earn $8 million with Liverpool.
Slot was appointed in late May to lead Liverpool after long-time manager Jurgen Klopp announced he would be leaving after the end of the season.
Klopp had been earning $18 million a year managing the club, which had him just under Pep Guardiola on the list.
Winning trophies can help secure big paydays. Besides Guardiola, only Unai Emery and Ange Postecoglou of Tottenham — who’s tied for sixth-highest-paid — have won more than 10 trophies as a manager.
In contrast, only three of the top 20 highest-paid coaches have an empty trophy shelf.
