Boxing has been a sport that captivates worldwide attention during its biggest fights. Boxers also get a chance to cash in from the huge spotlight cast on them in the ring.
Anthony Joshua tops the list of highest-earning active boxers in 2024.
The British-born heavyweight has earned approximately $250 million over his fighting career. Joshua became a pro in 2013 after winning a gold medal for Great Britain in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He made an effective splash onto the boxing scene by scoring a TKO in the first round of his first pro bout. Joshua has become a two-time unified heavyweight champ and is recognized worldwide.
Second on the list is super middleweight Canelo Alvarez. Canelo has amassed over $200 million in his career, the only active boxer to do so along with Anthony Joshua.
He was the top-earning boxer of 2023, according to Sportico. Canelo earned $66 million last year through fight earnings and promotions. He’s arguably the biggest star in boxing today and draws huge crowds when he comes to town.
Tyson Fury lands third on the list of highest-earning active boxers.
Fury has made $150 million in career earnings. “The Gypsy King” is known for his joking manner and outfits, but he’s been a dominating force in the ring. His career record is 34-1-1.
Fourth is Youtuber-turned boxer Jake Paul. Paul earned at least $40 million in his recent bout against Mike Tyson, despite streaming issues.
Although he’s earned tons of money through his other businesses and social media, Paul has quickly become one of boxing’s biggest earners.
Rounding out the top five is Deontay Wilder with his $100 million in career earnings. Since his debut in 2008, Wilder has made over $10 million in four of his fights.
His biggest payday was his rematch against Tyson Fury where he earned $28 million despite a knockout loss.
Only five boxers have crossed the $100 million mark in career earnings among active boxers on the list. Gervonta “Tank” Davis is the last boxer on the list to earn over $30 million. He sits at seventh.
