Netflix is shipping up to Boston.

The streaming service announced Tuesday it will produce two documentaries related to the Boston Red Sox, the first of which is a Hard Knocks–esque embedding with the team for the entire 2024 season, the first of its kind in the baseball space. The series will air in ’25 and will have unprecedented access from the field and up to the front office.

Tuesday’s announcement is the latest sports-related content deal for Netflix, which continues to expand its portfolio in the space, recently adding a deal with the WWE to its portfolio.

Netflix is also working on an NBA-type docuseries similar to the successful Quarterback series it ran this past summer that received critical acclaim. Now it’s trying a similar approach to Hard Knocks, an HBO staple that immerses with a different NFL team every preseason. HBO launched an in-season version of Hard Knocks this past season, which followed the Miami Dolphins.

The second documentary will air later this fall and is about the Red Sox 2004 World Series title, around the time the championship celebrates its 20th anniversary. The team famously came back from a 3–0 deficit to its rival New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series to win the pennant before defeating the St. Louis Cardinals for its first World Series title since 1918, breaking the Curse of the Bambino.
