In England, soccer is deeply ingrained in the country’s culture and is a driving force of year-round entertainment worldwide.

The Premier League — the highest level of English soccer — and one of the most competitive leagues in the world, has featured a team in the UEFA Champions League Final in 5 of the last 7 seasons including twi of those, Tottenham vs. Liverpool in 2019 and Manchester City vs. Chelsea in 2021, being all Premier League finals.

This high level of competition and overall success is showcased by the lucrative salaries of top players.

Erling Haaland is the highest-paid Premier League player by average annual value, taking home $36.6 million annually in his base salary as well as a hefty $24.4 million bonus. In 2023, Haaland broke the single-season Premier League goal record netting 36 goals and helping Manchester City win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Haaland signed a record-setting contract in January 2025, despite the club’s performance struggles.

Second place at $27.9 million per year is a tie between Haaland’s teammate Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. De Bruyne, the Manchester City midfielder, has led the Premier League in assists over the last decade. He is set to leave the club after this season.

Salah led the Premier League in goals (29) and assists (18) in 2024-25 while leading Liverpool to their second Premier League title in five years. He signed a two-year extension in April following tense negotiations with the club throughout the season.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro and Liverpool defender Virgil van Djik are tied for fourth, both earning $24.4 million annually. Both players have two years remaining on their contracts after van Djik signed an extension with Liverpool in April 2025 as his contract was set to expire.

Three players tie for sitxh place. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, and Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva of Manchester City all earn $20.9 million annually.
