Manchester United is reportedly taking a swift response to Cristiano Roanldo’s explosive, unsanctioned interview with Piers Morgan that aired earlier this week.

Man U is exploring the possibility of terminating Roanldo’s contract and suing him for breach of contract, per a report from ESPN.

In a statement issued Friday, the club simply said, “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.”

In the Morgan interview, Ronaldo aired his grievances with the Red Devils, citing a perceived lack of progress, his decreased playing time, and even saying he hopes rival Arsenal win the Premier League.

The 37-year-old famously rejoined the club that made him famous on a £12.85 million (~$15.3M) transfer in August 2021. He reportedly makes £385,000 (~$458,000) per week in Manchester.

Ronaldo has scored just one goal off of 10 appearances — including only four starts — this season.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
