Power 5 Football Teams Earned $557M In Sponsorships This Season

The conclusion of the FBS football season on Monday night marked the end of an extremely lucrative year for the Power 5 conferences.

Power 5 football teams earned about $557 million worth of sponsorships this past season, according to a report by SponsorUnited. 

  • The Southeastern Conference earned the highest share at $156 million, or 27%.
  • The top five team-specific earners included LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, and 2023 champions Georgia.
  • A wide variety of companies earned the most deals, from Nike and Allstate to Ford and StubHub. 
  • From a category perspective, banks inked the most deals.

The sponsorship average for 2022-23 was about $8.6 million. But sponsorships aren’t the top revenue drivers in the Power 5. 

These conferences earn more than half their revenue from conference distributions that include media rights, NCAA, and postseason football revenue, according to Knight-Newhouse data.
