The Premier Lacrosse League has a lot of momentum as it enters the second half of its 2022 season.
A report that the PLL shared exclusively with Front Office Sports reveals that the 2022 All-Star Game at Gillette Stadium was the highest-attended All-Star Game in league history, showing a 38% increase from the previous record.
That weekend’s record follows a dominant trend for the season: Daily attendance for 2022 PLL games is up 48% year-over-year.
Increased attendance could partially be chalked up to the league’s fruitful new partnership with ESPN, as PLL broadcasts are showing a 34% increase year-over-year.
The league is in its first season of a new media deal with the Worldwide Leader after spending its first three on NBC’s channels and streaming services — and its metrics remain robust.
- The PLL has racked up 235M total impressions, 61.4M video views, and 9.7M total engagements on social media.
- The league’s website and new app have garnered 13.2M pageviews.
- It also launched an NFT in July — called Premier Pass — that was claimed by 3,600 users.
Powering through its fourth season, the PLL made headlines this week after a successful Series D funding round led by the Chernin Group.
The round, which also included the WWE and Kevin Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures, reportedly doubles the league’s valuation.
The PLL season resumes Saturday in Fairfield, Connecticut, and the league returns to Foxborough for the first round of the playoffs on Sept. 3.
